Radek Blažek - Kite Season founder

Alaska / Snowkiting Norway / Sicily KiteSeason base

I am a freerider/snowkiter – I live and breathe for the big mountains, powder, the team I have the honor of working with, and above all, my family. I have expressed my passion for snowkiting through our projects in Norway, where we specialize in unforgettable experiences on the snowy plains of Hardangervidda. Our work involves not only organizing snowkiting and freeride expeditions but also providing complete services, including professional instructors, safety measures, and comfortable accommodation.

Now, with excitement, we are preparing a new project in Alaska, where we combine our experience with a desire to explore new challenges. Alaska offers us unique conditions for freeriding and snowkiting – vast, untouched terrains, ideal snow conditions, and thrilling adventures. Our mission is to bring our passion and expertise to this fantastic destination, allowing you to experience the best of freeriding and snowkiting. I look forward to guiding you through the best snowkiting terrains in Alaska.

THE CORE OF OUR TRIP TO ALASKA IS 4 RIDERS AND 2 MOUNTAIN GUIDES

This trip is suitable for all backcountry enthusiasts with experience in off-trail terrain!

How will we get into the mountains?

1 x Sledski Guide + 1 x Mountain Guide - Sledski guide Nicolas Demetrio, an expert in snowmobile driving, will take us into the vast mountains where we will explore incredible terrains. We can manage 6-8 runs per day per person with an elevation gain of 5,000 to 6,000 meters. Under the guidance of Jan Kořínek, we will choose our descents according to our preferences.

Accommodation - Best Western Valdez Harbor Inn

Valdez Harbor Inn is the perfect place to stay, located in the beautiful harbor at the heart of Valdez with direct access to the mountains. After a day spent in the terrain, we can relax in the comfort of cozy rooms and recharge for another day full of freeriding. We stay right in the center of the freeriding mecca. Classic bars, burger joints, seafood restaurants, and Alaskan pubs are all within walking distance.

Base camp = a camper van on-site in Thompson Pass

Each day, we will travel from our hotel in Valdez to Thompson Pass, where we will have a camper van as our base camp. This setup provides us with facilities to warm up, cook, grill, and plan our snowmobile outings. I consider this base camp an essential part of the trip. In case of waiting for a weather window or adverse weather conditions, we will stay warm and comfortable. There is also the option to sleep in the camper van directly on-site.

To open each scheduled date, a minimum of 4 participants is required, which is also the maximum number. The duration of the trip can be extended depending on the number of participants.

Freeriding Valdez - Thompson pass

A paradise for freeriders. Few places in the world offer the experience of heliskiing terrain without the need for a helicopter. Valdez is one of those rare spots.

The snow in Valdez, Alaska, is renowned for its exceptional quality, which results from several unique factors. A key element is the specific combination of climatic conditions and geographical location. Valdez lies on the western coast of Alaska, where warm moisture from the Pacific Ocean meets the colder temperatures of the interior. This creates ideal conditions for regular and intense snowfalls, which are often powdery yet compact—perfect for freeriding.

Another important factor is the local topography. The surrounding mountains and valleys act as natural barriers that capture snowfall and prevent it from melting quickly. This means that the snow in Valdez often accumulates to great depths and is resilient to weather changes.

Together, these factors create the perfect conditions for high-quality freeriding, making Valdez a popular destination for freeriders.
